Summer is the most yang season — full of energy, warmth, and activity. The Heart is the "emperor" organ in TCM, governing blood circulation, consciousness, and sleep. Late Summer is a unique TCM season — the transitional period between summer heat and autumn dryness. It corresponds to the Earth element and the Spleen, which governs digestion, energy production, and fluid metabolism. Dampness is the biggest threat to the Spleen during this humid time. 长夏是中医特有的季节——夏热与秋燥之间的过渡期。它对应土元素和脾脏,主管消化、能量产生和水液代谢。在这个潮湿的时期,湿气是脾脏的最大威胁。

The Lungs govern respiration, skin health, immunity (Wei Qi), and the process of releasing what no longer serves us. Winter is the most yin season — a time for rest, reflection, and deep restoration. The Kidneys store our fundamental life essence (Jing), govern bone health, reproductive function, and aging. Winter is nature's invitation to slow down and replenish your reserves for the year ahead. 冬季是最阴的季节——是休息、反思和深层恢复的时候。肾脏储存我们根本的生命精华(精),主管骨骼健康、生殖功能和衰老。冬季是大自然邀请我们放慢脚步、为来年补充储备的时候。

    Eat warming, nourishing foods温补食物

    Bone broth, black beans, walnuts, dark sesame, lamb, and kidney beans tonify the Kidneys. Add warming spices: cinnamon, ginger, clove, and star anise. Salty flavors (in moderation) benefit the Kidneys.骨头汤、黑豆、核桃、黑芝麻、羊肉和红豆补肾。添加温性调料:肉桂、生姜、丁香和八角。适量咸味有益肾脏。
